Find Trusted Tilers Near You
Quality tiling transforms a bathroom or kitchen. A licensed tiler will also waterproof wet areas to Australian Standard AS 3740 — critical for preventing costly water damage behind the tiles.
What Tilers Do
Licence Requirement
Tiling over $5,000 (NSW) or above state thresholds requires a licensed tiler. Waterproofing is a separate licensed trade in most states.

Common Questions About Tilers
How much does tiling cost in Australia?
Floor tiling costs $45–$120 per square metre for labour only. Simple ceramic tiles are at the lower end; large-format porcelain or natural stone at the higher end. A full bathroom tiling job costs $3,000–$8,000 including waterproofing.
Does a tiler do waterproofing?
Some tilers are also licensed waterproofers; others subcontract the waterproofing. Waterproofing to AS 3740 is mandatory in wet areas (shower recesses, bath surrounds) and must be done before tiling. Always confirm the waterproofing is included and ask for a membrane warranty.
How long does bathroom tiling take?
A standard bathroom tiling job takes 3–5 days — 1 day for waterproofing, 1 day drying/curing, and 2–3 days for tiling. Large format tiles or complex patterns take longer. Grouting is done last and needs 24–48 hours before the shower can be used.
